Glossary of mistakes in Internet

Mistakes in Internet occur rather often and can make anybody upset. More often it is connected with servers you are trying to apply to and not with your computer. We give a list of Internet messages and their meanings. In majority cases the only thing you can do is to try to connect with server one more time.

400 Bad File Request

Bad File Request Usually means that syntaxes being used in url is wrong (for example, it was used upper register symbol instead of lower register one; wrong punctuation marks).


401 Unauthorized

Unauthorized Server is waiting from a customer for an enciphering key and does not receive it. It is also possible that it was entered an incorrect password. Try again, paying special attention to register of text being entered (upper or lower register).

403 Forbidden/Access Denied

Forbidden access Analogously to 401 to access site a special authorization is needed - password and/or username if it is a registered publication. In other words you do not have correspondent permits installed on server.

404 File Not Found

File Not Found Server can’t find file requested by you. File is moved or removed or you gave wrong URL or name of a document. Check URL. If there is a mistake in a word – correct it and try one more time. If it does not work try to do the following. Remove in address field symbols between slashes from one to another and connect with site until the page without mistake 404 appears. You may find from this point the page you need.

408 Request Timeout

Request Timeout Customer had stopped request before server finished its processing. User either pressed stop button, closed browser or had pressed reference before page was loaded. It usually happens when server is slow or file is of a big size.

500 Internal Error

Internal Error HTML-document can’t be found because of server configuration problems. They usually recommend getting in touch with site administration.

501 Not Implemented

Not Implemented Web-server does not support requested characteristics.

502 Service Temporarily Overloaded

Service temporarily overloaded Server is overloaded; too many connections; big loading. Try making efforts until page is loaded.

503 Service Unavailable

Service unavailable Server is engaged, site is probably to have moved or your phone connection with Internet was broken.

File Contains No Data

File contains no data Page is present but there is nothing to show. Error in document. Wrong tables formatting or information headline was cut out.

Bad File Request

Bad file request Perhaps browser does not support forms or another information encoding.

Failed DNS Lookup

Failed DNS lookup Server of Names can’t take your request to admissible Internet address. Server can be engaged or doesn’t work or incorrect URL was entered.

Host Unavailable

Host unavailable Electronic computer of server doesn’t work. Press page reloading or try to enter site later.

Unable to Locate Host

Unable to locate host Electronic computer of server doesn’t work, connection with Internet is broken or URL was entered incorrectly.
